The suspended BJP spokesperson’s appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court on July 1 with the statement that she was solely to blame for the unrest in the nation.
The case has been assigned to the same justices, Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala, who heard Sharma’s case on July 1 and censured her for her “disturbing” comments about the Prophet. In her latest application, Nupur said that she has once more received death threats. The Supreme Court previously criticised her application, noting that her uncontrolled speech had set the entire nation on fire. Justice Surya Kant and Justice JB Pardiwala must expressly sit together to hear Nupur’s plea after finishing their work in separate benches. So, it is anticipated that this petition will be considered by midday.
FIR has been filled at several places :
In the FIRs filed against her for allegedly making objectionable remarks about the Prophet Mohammad on national television, Nupur Sharma is asking for a stay of arrest. The Supreme Court will hear her request on Tuesday.
Nupur is the subject of 9 FIRs filed in 8 states. Sharma has pleaded for the transfer of all the cases collectively and to Delhi while also requesting a stay on the arrest in these instances. Following the comments made regarding the Prophet, cases have been filed in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Karnataka, Assam, Telangana, and Maharashtra. Nupur Sharma had previously received a reprimand from the court during the hearing on July 1.
It is scheduled to be considered by the same justices, Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala, who heard Sharma’s case earlier in the month of July and censured Sharma for her “disturbing” comments about the Prophet.
In order to combine the several FIRs that have been filed against her around the nation, Sharma also requested the resurrection of her withdrawn plea. She also asked for the expunction of any negative comments made by the vacation bench when it heard her petition on this matter on July 1.
You are responsible for this situation
The judges had stated that day that “you are to blame for the country’s current state of affairs. You apologised after the fact, and even then only on the condition that I withdraw my statement if someone’s feelings are harmed. You should appear on national TV and represent the entire nation. Need to apologise.
The bench had stated that Sharma’s words caused regrettable situations and sparked strong emotions all throughout the country while rejecting to hear her appeal.Due to Sharma’s remarks, there was a diplomatic fallout with several Muslim countries registering their official protest. Sharma’s remarks also sparked a national uproar with large rallies organised by Muslim groups (some of which turned violent). Sharma was promptly expelled from the BJP.
Delhi Police also reprimanded
On that day, the court also made fun of the Delhi Police. Said, “What steps have been done in the Delhi-registered FIR? Perhaps the police have put out a red carpet for you here? You’re gaining elevated status. However, the court will not grant access to such a status. Any state’s High Court is accessible. Speak your opinion, and the lower court will grant you bail.”
