China-Taiwan News: On Tuesday, Taiwanโs military forces began live-fire artillery drills in southern Pingtung. This came in response to Chinaโs ongoing military exercises near Taiwan waters. However, Taiwanโs Eight Army Corps spokesperson said, โthese are previously scheduled drills and do not come in response to the Chinese drills.โ Taiwanโs foreign minister, Joseph Wu, said that the Chinese drills are an excuse to launch a military invasion. He also said these attacks violate international laws and have restricted one of the busiest shipping routes.
