The South-Indian club Bengaluru FC unveiled the signing of the National team defender Sandesh Jhingan in Bangalore Football Stadium.
Just imagine you are attending your football club’s first open training session of the season and the club announces the signing by arranging the entry of the newly signed player among the fans. Sounds unreal right?
It may sound fictional, but that’s how Bengaluru FC announced the grand signing of the best Indian defender Sandesh Jhingan. The Bengaluru FC fans had the moment of their life when they saw Sandesh Jhingan walking past them as a new Bengaluru FC player.
Sandesh Jhingan becomes joins Prabir Das and Roy Krishna to be the third ATKMB player to join Bengaluru FC this season.
Sandesh Jhingan appeared to be very delighted after re-joining the South-Indian club. Previously in 2016-17, he played for this club for six months on loan from Kerala Blasters.
“ The memories of me being here played a big role. I came on loan and had some great memories with this team. A lot of players are still here from that time. We had a great time, some good results”, very delighted Jhingan quoted.
“I am lucky enough to play in fine stadiums like Kochi, Fatorda, and Salt Lake with the ATK Mohun Bagan. There is a very special connection with the Kanteerava. During my initial days with the national team, we played a lot of games here. I think the first time I started doing the Viking Clap was here. I have a special connection with the ground” he added.
The 29-year-old Sandesh Jhingan piled his trade with the ATK Mohun Bagan when they changed their coach to Juan Ferrando from Antonio Lopez Habaz. His future looked threatening, as they signed two new foreign center-backs, and like Roy Krishna and Prabir Das, he was also told that he doesn’t fit into the style of play of the team. Then he had two offers on table one from Bengaluru FC and another offer from the ATKMB’s historical rivals East Bengal.
After leaving ATKMB Jhingan took some time and decided to join the Blues camp.
“When things got over between me and ATKMB, I took some time off with my family to decide my next destination. Then I spoke to Sunil paaji. I know the DNA of the club. BFC has been one of the best clubs in the country since their inception” Jhingan added.
