Indian cricket coach, Ravi Shastri’s tenure, is set to an end; he plans to leave soon after the ICC World Cup ends in November.
Ravi Shastri’s announcement to resign raises the question of “who will be the next Indian Coach?”. The Indian team is eagerly waiting to see who will acquire the throne next.
Shastri denied extending the tenure
Ravi Shastri’s tenure is expiring soon, and the reports say he doesn’t want to extend his contract, even after BCCI offers to extend.
He had discussed this with the officials of the BCCI board. And BCCI had opened a new application for the post that is going to be left by Shastri.
The BCCI appointed Ravi Shastri as the coach in 2017, and it extended up to 2019. Later BCCI again extended his tenure for another two years in August 2019.
And that tenure is going to end, and Shastri doesn’t want to expand further. He has been a part of the Indian team since 2014 as a director, and in 2016, when Anil Kumble became the coach, he took a break from the group.
In 2017, the board replaced Anil Kumble with Ravi Shastri, and the team had well enjoyed his guidance until now.
Shastri says that, although it’s a sad decision, it’s a timely decision. During these two years, he has achieved everything that he wanted. And he never wants to overachieve and exceed the reception.
ICC World begins on October 17th in the United Arab Emirates and will wrap up by November 14th. By then, Shastri’s tenure will end, and he will bid goodbye to the position of Indian Coach.
At present, Shastri is in isolation due to coronavirus exposure. And presently, he wishes that India win the T20. He is so much satisfied and happy with all the success during his tenure.
The duo of Ravi Shastri- Virat Kohli didn’t get a chance to hold the world cup together, and he wants to achieve that before his resignation. Under his leadership, India had won the T20 match against Australia, England, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Along with head coach Shastri, fielding coach Sridhar Virat and bowling coach Bharat Arun will also leave the team at the end of ICC. But Vikram Rathore, batting coach, will continue to stay in his post.
Who will be the next?
As Ravi Shastri decides to leave the position of Head Coach from the team, the team requires a new coach and hot discussion related to appointing the next coach is going on now.
At present, BCCI did not finalize the next coach of the Indian Cricket team. The team and the entire population of India are waiting to see who will achieve that throne.
As of now, many names are under prediction to be the next coach, which includes Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, V V S Laxman, Vikram Rathore and much more.
According to a report, Rahul Dravid denied being the next coach as he said he is not yet prepared. Dravid was the stand-in head coach of Team India in their limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka last July.
Some report says, BCCI wants to bring back Anil Kumble as the head coach. If then, it will be a remarkable comeback after 2016.
