The Boycott movement has found its latest target, Vijay Deverakonda. Tollywood actor is making his debut in Bollywood with Puri Jagannadh’s much-anticipated film ‘Liger’ backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma production starring Ananya Pandey in the lead.
The film is about to release on 25 August, however before that #boycottliger started trending on Twitter.
There are various reasons why netizens are calling for a ban on movies. one among them is the involvement of Karan Johar in the movie.
As one Twitter user tweeted, ”I will boycott the movie. You shouldn’t be related to KJO or any other form of Bollywood.
Meanwhile, another wrote, “Dear Vijay U don’t know why people boycott. Because Bollywood always disrespects our culture and therefore the Bollywood actor always gives statements that can hurt people. an individual calls himself a star because of people’s.’
The third user said, ”#BoycottLigerMovie Whoever will attempt to protect this shitty URDUWOOD will be straight away sent to the list of BOYCOTT! we are not here to do CHARITY to their families, we would like GOOD CONTENT and NATIONALISTIC movies !!’

During a promotional event in vijaywada, Vijay addressed this issue by saying “Three years back, in 2019 we started this film. Back then, this ‘boycott Bollywood’ wasn’t there. All this started within the lockdown and we were already into the shooting schedules by that time. At that point, we felt like there was no option better than Karan (Johar) sir to require our movie India-wide. He took Baahubali and showed us how into North India which was unknown territory for us. Script and production were ours. once we requested him to release the movie in Hindi, he warmly took it, and now we got humongous reach within the North,” “I don’t know exactly what their (online trolls) issue is and what they want. Earlier, Vijay also respond to a tweet that said negative things about him, he said, “Anybody trying to grow in their field. Will Always have a Target on their back – But we fight back. And once you are honest, yourself and need the best for everyone – The love of people and God will protect you.”
