Legendary actor Anupam Kher, who has over 500 films to his credit, recently spoke about his absence from major Hindi films. Despite the success of The Kashmir Files followed by his latest release Karthikeya 2, Anupam said he has not received any more big banner offers under Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, and Sajid Nadiadwala. He will soon be starring in Sooraj Barjatya’s film Uunchai.

Anupam Kher has appeared in several successful films including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dilwale Dulhania
Le Jayenge, and Veer Zaaara, produced by Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra. Reminiscing about the old days,
Anupam said that although he used to be her ‘darling’, things have changed for reasons unknown.
During an interview, Anupam told Times Now Navbharat, “Today I am not part of mainstream cinema
in India. I’m not. I don’t do Karan Johar films, I don’t do Sajid Nadiadwala films, I don’t do Aditya
Chopra films because the offers haven’t come in. I was a spoiled child by all these people. I made all
the films.

But I no longer blame them for not choosing me. But since they didn’t cast me in their films, I found
a way where I did a Tamil film called Connect, I did a Telugu film called Tiger Nageswara Rao.
I also did Sooraj Barjatyas Uunchai.”

Talking about rediscovering his love for the craft, he added, “Otherwise I could have sat
down and said, ‘Arey yaar mere dost aur mere jo it kareebi they ek zamaane main, Mujhe ab lete Nahin Hain
filmon mein toh main ab kya karoon main to barbaad ho Gaya (Who were my friends ignores me now
and doesn’t offer films).’ Of course mujhe takleef hoti hai, dukh hota hai ki Kyun Nahin lete Bhai main to inki
sab filmon mein kaam Karta tha (It hurts, it hurts because I used to work with them.
But it’s not a complaint, nor do I hold I’m just saying that sometimes when one door closes, many other

Anupam Kher will next star in Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming historical drama Emergency. In the film, she plays the role of Jaya Prakash Narayan while Kangana looks like Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In addition, he also has Shiv Shastri Balboa and Uunchai.
