Authorities reported the fire broke out at the electric scooter showroom on the ground floor of the building, leading to the raging fire spreading all over the building.
Secunderabad: Officials reported eight people were found dead when the fire broke out. It is also suspected that several people were injured. The fire initially broke out in the electric scooter showroom. Later, it spread to the Hotel Ruby Pride on the first floor, where 25 guests were accommodated. As the fire raged, fumes of smoke formed asphyxiation, resulting in the deaths of people.
Rescue of Victims:
The firefighters arrived on the scene at the earliest and managed to put out the raging fire. People were rescued using crane ladders. Local people were found helping the firefighters. All the rescued people were sent to various hospitals in the city for treatment. And the fire department brought the fire under control.
What caused the fire to break out?
The fire broke out in the electric scooter showroom, where officials were inspecting the cause of the fire. Though the reason behind the fire breaking out was not revealed, it is suspected to be caused either by overcharging or somewhere else. Officials witnessed the water sprinkler system in the building was not working. A case has been filed and the issue is being investigated. Telangana’s Home Minister Mohammad Mehmood Ali conveyed his deep condolences to the victims who lost their lives. He also assured people that proper action would be taken.
He stated, “The fire department managed to put out the fire and rescue people. Despite that, few people died due to smoke. We are investigating the cause of the incident and the case has been filed”.
Compensation from the government
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted the compensation of Rs. 2 lakhs each for the family members of the people who died in the fire breakout and Rs. 50,000 each for the injured. The state government has also said that the victim’s family will get Rs. 3 lakhs each as compensation.
