On December 7, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) recorded a huge victory in the MCD elections which resulted in bringing an end to the BJP’s rule of 15 years. AAP managed to gather 131 seats out of 250 and BJP and Congress gathered 99 and 7 respectively.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia expressed his gratitude to the people of Delhi. He wrote in a tweet, “Heartfelt gratitude to the people of Delhi for trusting the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi MCD. By defeating the world’s biggest and most negative party, the people of Delhi have made a staunch honest, and working Arvind Kejriwal ji win. For us, this is not just a victory, it is a big responsibility.”
AAP held a rally after they won the MCD elections. In the victory rally, CM Kejriwal addressed the rally and said that he congratulated the people of Delhi and thanked them for bringing the change. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Raghav Chaddha, and others were present at the rally.
Arvind Kejriwal in the rally said, “I congratulate the people of Delhi for this win and thank them for bringing change. I want the cooperation of the BJP and Congress to work for Delhi now. I appeal to the Centre and ask for PM’s blessings to make Delhi better. We have to make MCD corruption-free. Today, the people of Delhi have given a message to the entire nation”.

CCTV tapes effect?
AAP lost in Cabinet Minister Satyendra Jain’s constituency Shakurbasti. Jain is lodged in jail under the allegations of a money laundering case. There were a series of CCTV videos leaked on social media when Jain was seen getting sumptuous treatment.
As per Delhi State Election Commission, BJP’s Sikha Bharadwaj won ward no. 58 against AAP’s Urmila Gupta by over 3000 votes.
BJP’s Vineet Vohra won ward no. 59 against AAP’s Shalu Duggal by over 2000 votes.
BJP’s Jyoti Aggarwal ward no. 60 against AAP’s Milthlesh Pathak by over 1000 votes.
