Aarti Mittal, a 27-year-old casting director, has been arrested by the Dindoshi Police for reportedly operating a prostitution ring in the film industry in Mumbai and providing customers with models.
Who is Aarti Mittal?
Aarti is a 27year-old casting director based in Mumbai. In addition to being a casting director, Aarti is also an actor. She has been a part of programmes on television like “Apnapan”, starring Rajshree Thakur. Aarti also announced a few days ago that she was filming a movie with R Madhavan on social media. Aarti, who has over 100,000 Instagram followers, has photos with a number of prominent television actors on her instagram handle as well.
How did the Police confirm the accusation?
According to the report to a local news channel, Police Inspector Manoj Sutar received word that Aarti was operating a prostitution ring. He assembled a group and pretended to be a client requesting two girls for his friends from Aarti. Being unaware of the fact that the dummy customer was an Inspector, Aarti demanded Rs 60,000 to arrange the girls for them.
On Sutar’s phone, Mittal allegedly provided images of two ladies and informed him that the models would stay in hotels in Goregaon or Juhu. Sutar dispatched two fictitious customers and reserved two rooms in Goregaon. Mittal brought two young women and offered them condoms when she arrived, according to a police officer statement and all of this was captured on spy cameras.
Action Taken Against Mittal
The accused was caught in the act when the Social Service Branch searched the hotel. Following their notification to the Dindoshi police station, a FIR was filed against Mittal. The models told the police that Mittal had promised to pay them each Rs 15,000 during the course of the probe.
A police officer from Mumbai’s Dindoshi Police Station said that after arresting the alleged defendant for allegedly running a prostitution ring in the movie industry and providing models to clients in order to make money, they filed a case against Mittal under Section 370 of the IPC and other pertinent sections for girl trafficking. The Unit 11 crime branch has been given the case to look into further.
Dark side of the film industry
The mental and physical pain of the casting couch is something that many newbies to the film industry must endure both personally and professionally. Recently, celebrities began openly discussing the problem and speaking out about it, which actually sheds light on the shadowy side of this business. The casting couch is real, according to actors like Tisca Chopra, Radhika Apte, and Kangana Ranaut, who all acknowledged its existence and shared their experiences.
Malavika Sreenath, a Malayalam actress who has recently opened up about her traumatic experience on the casting couch and appeared in movies like Madhuram and Saturday Night, recently gave an interview. She described how she was subjected to sexual harassment as she was attempting to get a part in a movie without revealing the name of the person.
The arrest and the doings of Aarti thus reveals one of the many corners of the dark side of the film industry. Further probe into this particular case is expected to bring to light more victims of the unethical trade and bring justice to those who have been wronged.
