The planned film city project in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh was discussed during a meeting between Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on 4th January.
According to a statement from the UP CM’s office, the meeting was held in Mumbai at Hotel Trident where Yogi Adityanath had arrived earlier in the day, and lasted around 35 minutes.
According to CM Yogi, Cinemas have a significant role in increasing public awareness, and when choosing a subject, filmmakers should concentrate on social issues and matters of national relevance.
According to Adityanath, his administration would shortly present a new cinema policy.
Akshay’s encounter with the politician wasn’t his first, The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar met in Lucknow the previous year. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister had extended an open invitation to the film industry to come to the state for filming in September when he launched an ambitious proposal to establish a film metropolis in Noida.
The delegation invited to the meeting includes producers Siddharth Roy Kapur, Rajkumar Santoshi, Binet Kapoor, Madhur Bhandarkar, Sudhir Mishra, Tigmanshu Dhulia Ramesh Sippy, and Umesh Shukla. T-Series head Bhushan Kumar and Madhur Bhandarkar also work in the film industry.

IKEA submitted a declaration of intent to expand its business in Uttar Pradesh, announcing plans to invest Rs 4,300 crore in the construction of luxury malls and retail spaces in Noida, among other places.
