More about KARD
KARD is a co-ed k-pop group under DSP media. They were brought together in 2016. BM and J.Seph trained together under DSP Media for almost 5 years. The company had planned on debuting them in a hip-hop duo group but later changed it to a co-ed with the other members.
Somin had been an idol a few years before she debuted with KARD. Former member of the Japanese idol group “Pretty,” she joined “April” in 2015 as the leader, and she left the group the same year. Jiwoo was under FNC Entertainment for 2 years and then shifted to DSP, where she trained for 2 months, later signing with KARD.
The members of KARD are each given a card name, or they signify specific cards. J.Seph is the ACE of the group, BM is the King, Somin is the Black Joker and Jiwoo is the Color Joker. They all explained each of their cards during their debut party.
J.Seph (ACE)- “The Ace can either be the lowest card that supports the team, or the highest card that is sharp.”
BM (King)- “The King is the most dependable and strong card, so he is a solid foundation of the team.”
Somin (Black Joker)- “Depending on the situation, the black joker can be the best card, so I will show the various appeals that I have.”
Jiwoo (Colored Joker)- “I’m in charge of making our group’s singing, rapping, dancing, and music colorful.”
KARD officially debuted on July 19, 2017, with “Hola Hola” which was a major hit in South America. Probably the reason why they are prioritizing KARD on that side of the market. Their pre-debut singles, Oh NaNa, Don’t Recall and Rumor were also major hits globally.
