Bollywood actor Abhishek Bacchan is currently seen in the psychological crime thriller series Breath: Into The Shadows Season 2. It debuted on Prime video last Wednesday. Amit Sadh, Saiyami Kher, Nithya Menen, and Navin Kasturia also acted in this show.
Abhishek Bacchan is someone who has been in through and off mode in a two-decade career in Bollywood. He has done some roles which are severely panned by critics and still takes that criticism sportingly. Abhishek shared how he deals with bad reviews and criticisms that come his way for the first time in an interview while he was making his 2002 film Shararat.
Abhishek says he takes criticism as feedback
While speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Abhishek Bachchan revealed he still does that differently. He said he takes criticism as feedback as he puts it in a scrapbook.“I used to put it (scrapbook of bad and good reviews) up on my bathroom mirror. I no longer have a mirror because it’s fully covered,” he added.
Abhishek shares how his father guides him to face criticism
Abhishek further mentioned that his father Amitabh Bachchan gave him this advice to keep a record of bad reviews. Abhishek added how his father tells him to tackle critical reviews.
In Abhishek’s words, “He said ‘keep it there, read it every day and go out there to prove them wrong, use that as inspiration and impetus.
When Abhishek asked if he was choosy about taking reviews, he said,” “I think you should pick everything because everybody’s opinion counts and everybody is your audience.
”He shared his father told him to read all critical reviews and read them every day, and worked on how to self-groom and prove them wrong.
Inspired by his father’s words, he said he took his advice seriously and took a step further and he read those reviews every day so he can actively work on his improvement.
Abhishek said, ‘they are telling me to improve myself so let me read every morning on how to improve myself and actively work on that,”.
Abhishek to Media about the ongoing debate of good content and box office collections
Earlier, he expressed his point of view about the ongoing debate of good content v/s box office collections, when many films flopped at the ticket windows.
The actor further said people are now captivated by collections as opposed to the content.
Speaking at the India Today conclave, Amitabh Bachchan’s son stated, “There has been a lot of talent with the influx of digital streaming rights.
Previously when you wanted to see local content, you went to the movie theater or television. Then there was the advent of satellite media.
There are very few theaters that show English films.”He further added, “However, multiplexes came into being and that is why you see foreign films doing a lot better now in terms of collection.
Fortunately, digital platforms don’t put out numbers. It keeps the focus on content.”
