The concert for Arijit Singh in Kolkata has been postponed by a government agency. A BJP politician has since remarked on this topic, giving it a political spin.
The state administration has cancelled the renowned singer Arijit Singh’s planned performance in Kolkata. The BJP claims that Arijit Singh was set to perform “Rang de tu mohe gerua” in front of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from the Shah Rukh Khan starred film Dilwale.
The G-20 programme, according to the West Bengali administration, is to blame for the concert’s cancellation.
The International Film Festival programme launch event is intended to coincide with the presentation of this programme at Eco Park. The G-20 programme is being discussed in the hallway directly in front of it. Politics between the party and the opposition have recently been heated over this matter.
What the BJP leader told
Amit Malviya of the BJP claimed that Arijit Singh’s performance was cut short because he sang Shahrukh Khan’s song “Gerua” in front of Mamata Banerjee. The West Bengal government has come under fire for BJP leader Amit Malviya’s tweets.
He asserted that the Mamta government refused to approve the event because of the lyrics in Arijit Singh’s song. Due to the fact that Arijit Singh would open the show with the song “Rang de tu mohe gerua” and the Chief Minister himself would be participating in it.
The government has cancelled it in such a case. The West Bengali government has provided an explanation following this BJP accusation. alleged that the G-20 program’s dates and the film festival’s clashed. Due to the likelihood of blockage in the event of the G-20 as a result of Arijit Singh’s programme, the concert has been postponed in this circumstance.
Song from the movie Dilwale
The title song of Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale, according to information, is “Rang de tu mohe gerua.” It’s also Arijit Singh’s most well-known song overall. In addition to a Bengali song, the song was shown at the Kolkata Film Festival.
Firhad Hakim, a minister for West Bengal, stated that clearance for Arijit Singh’s programme had not been given due to the G-20 programme.
He cites the fact that both events were scheduled to take place on the same campus and that there was a chance that Arijit Singh’s programme would interfere with the G-20 programme as the justification for this. Nevertheless, this programme will be attended by all international delegates.
On February 18th, the programme was proposed.
Arijit Singh’s concert was scheduled to take place on February 18th, according to the programme that has been suggested thus far. However, the administration has since declared that this programme will return at some point. Sarkar predicted that Arijit Singh’s presentation might get a sizable audience. As a result, law and order may be disturbed. A Salman Khan performance has reportedly also been postponed, according to reports. The same location also hosted the proposal for this performance, despite the fact that January 20 was set as the date.
Additionally, the mayor of Kolkata stated that “the police thought that the programme could create a law and order problem. It was difficult to manage such a large audience when Arjit Singh’s performances would draw large crowds.
It was understandable for the police to worry that staging such a sizable event directly in front of the convention centre may cause issues with law and order. Another Salman Khan programme had to be cancelled, according to Hakim.
The shows by Arijit Singh and Salman Khan had to be cancelled due to worries about law and order issues. Besides this, we never even received an application for the Eco Park programme.
