Arvind Kejriwal, chief minister of Delhi and a leader of the AAP, stated on Sunday that Gujarat does not want a “double-engine government,” but rather a “new engine” government, in a dig at the BJP-led Central government.
Kejriwal’s election speech
Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that Gujarat will experience a “storm of change” and his party will form the next government. Speaking at a rally in Bhavnagar, Mr. Kejriwal stated that after 27 years of BJP administration, people in Gujarat are ready to vote for the AAP.
Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann will spend two days in Gujarat, which is getting ready for assembly elections. Kejriwal and Mann will speak at public gatherings in the districts of Mehsana, Bhavnagar, and Banaskantha over the two days, according to Manoj Sorathiya, the state general secretary of the party.
Hitting at ruling BJP and opposition INC
Kejriwal said according to a “study undertaken by the Center,” Gujarat has the highest inflation rate nationwide and double those of Delhi. “This is due to widespread corruption in Gujarat,” he claimed. He further added, “If you vote for an honest party, we’ll lower prices everywhere in Gujarat, just like we did in Delhi.”
BJP claims to be “Double engine ki sarkaar,” But Gujarat wants a “new engine” this time rather than a double engine. The double engine is nearly 40 and 50 years old. You have nothing to lose by trying a new party” speaking at a rally in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Kejriwal said.
“Please give us a chance, I’m here. You have given these parties seventy years. You have given Congress so many years, and the BJP has remained in power for about 27 years. I won’t come back to ask for votes if I don’t perform,” Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal claimed he cannot announce large packages but will offer benefits worth 30,000 Rupees to homes through his “guarantees” in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s events in Gujarat where he announced projects worth crores.
Additionally, he stated that voting for the Congress would be completely pointless because the party is likely to win 10 seats, and even those MLAs would later defect to the BJP. “But now you don’t need to worry, your brother is here”, he added.
Promises of AAP in Gujarat
The first item on the AAP agenda, if the party forms government, according to Mr. Kejriwal, is to remove all false charges against government employees in the state by December 31, 2022.
AAP’s other campaign promises to voters in the BJP-ruled state include free electricity to homes, the construction of 20,000 neighborhood clinics, monthly deposit of $1,000 into every woman’s bank account over the age of 18, provision of free healthcare to 6.5 crore Gujarat population, creation of ten lakh new jobs and guarantee of a MSP to farmers for five crops.
Gujarat has a yearly budget of 2.5 lakh crore, according to Mr. Kejriwal, who claims that corruption is prevalent in the state. “How much of that money has reached you, though? What happened to all the money? Have any hospitals, schools, or colleges been constructed in your neighborhood?”, Kejriwal asked people during his rally.
Kejriwal & Sisodia on CBI action against AAP leaders
“Bhagat Singh’s strong beliefs and ideals could not be changed by imprisonment or hanging. The second battle for freedom is already underway. After 75 years, the nation had an education minister (Sisodia) who provided the underprivileged with high-quality education and hope for a bright future, Mr. Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi. He was responding to Mr. Sisodia’s tweet, in which Mr. Sisodia claimed that the CBI had called him in for interrogation.
“CBI raided my home for 14 hours, but nothing was found. They searched my bank locker, yet again nothing was found inside. Even in my village, they found nothing. CBI Headquarters have summoned me, tomorrow at 11 a.m. I’ll go and provide my whole cooperation” Lastly Mr. Sisodia also tweeted, “Satyameva Jayate.”
More on FIR against AAP Leaders
In relation to the alleged scheme, the CBI filed a FIR against Mr. Sisodia and 14 other people. The agency has carried out many searches around the country and detained a number of people, including Vijay Nair, AAP’s media in-charge, liquor industry executive Sameer Mahendru, and Hyderabad-based businessman Abhishek Boinpally.
After receiving the summons from the CBI, the AAP stated that Mr. Sisodia will be detained after being questioned on Monday because “the BJP does not want the senior leader to campaign” in the next Assembly election in Gujarat. It is not related to the excise policy that the Deputy Chief Minister was arrested. People are talking about change and the Gujarat elections, where AAP is directly competing with the BJP, according to AAP chief spokesman, Saurabh Bharadwaj.
BJP’s response
Gaurav Bhatia, a BJP spokesman , accused that Mr. Sisodia is a “corrupt man who was busy secretly filling Mr. Kejriwal’s coffers.” “Arvind Kejriwal likes to compare his ministers to freedom fighters and himself to God. I want to inform him that he should be embarrassed for doing that since his dishonest Ministers are filling his pockets whereas Bhagat Singh gave his life in service to the nation”. AAP was charged with “pressure politics” on investigation agencies, he added.
AAP leaders have perfected the art of fabricating political scenarios and melodrama, alleged Praveen Shankar Kapoor, a spokesperson for the Delhi BJP.
