It’s finally happening!!! After more than a decade of waiting, the Avatar: The Way of Water trailer is finally here to take us back to the most authentic and beautiful landscapes of the alien planet Pandora. James Cameron’s Avatar 2009 was such an epic and fantastic that the highly anticipated sequel of this is the first of four new movies set in the astonishing eco-friendly universe.
According to the trailer it brings back the protagonist Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri Â
(Zoe Saldana) fourteen years after the first film’s events, when the human explorer decided to continue his life as the blue alien. Jake and Neytiri are now living they are happily ever after and are parents of a young blue boy.
However, peace in Pandora won’t last as the vicious human are back to torment their lives and livelihoods again, leading to a new confrontation between the invader species (looking like the same blue aliens) and the native people of Pandora.
The trailer shows and underlines how this sequel is all about a new generation, putting Jake and Neytiri’s son into the spotlight and making him the leader of a new adventure that they are about the experience.
The new trailer shows how 20th Century Studios spared no expense in portraying these characters into life-like development. Avatar was a blockbuster due to its innovative approach to 3D and CGI which made the audiences experience it like they were in it. The first one made history in 2009 by becoming the first movie to cross $2.8 billion at the international box office taking over Titanic’s position as the biggest release ever with $2.2 billion.
The Way of Water also sees the return of Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, CCH Pounder, and Matt Gerald. New cast additions for Avatar: The Way of Water include Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, Vin Diesel, and CJ Jones.
Avatar: The Way of Water is set to be premiered on December 16, 2022. The other three sequels come to theaters every two years, in 2024, 2026, and 2028.
