New England Test captain Ben Stokes has announced that his predecessor and batting talisman Joe Root will bat at No. 4 in the batting order against New Zealand at Lord’s next month at the start of the home summer. Root had been moved to one-drop in the series against the West Indies despite a spectacular 12-month spell in which he hammered six Test tonnes since the start of 2021.
Despite the fact that Root hit two more hundreds in the Caribbean, Stokes has backed up his good friend by allowing him to bat in his most productive position, He averages 51.27 points per game, compared to 39.67 at No. 3.
Stokes Statement
“I’ve already had a conversation with him. I’ve asked him to return to four o’clock, and I’ll be at six o’clock “Stokes was exposed.”Joe hits for a lot of runs, but four is his greatest location.” I feel that the time between four and six years old provides us with some experience. As a result, you can see where the openings for people to raise their hands are: three and five.”
“The players who aren’t available due to injury – Wood, Archer, Stone, Curran – they’d all be legitimate contenders,” Stokes continued.”It’s fascinating to think about the team we could put together if no injuries happen when you mix them with Broady, Jimmy, Robbo, and Woakesy.” Unfortunately, we do. All we have to do now is choose the best XI from the available possibilities, which I will always do.”
