Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman creates a historic announcement by allotting Rs1,300 crore for the tribal welfare in the state of Tripura. This has been the most extensive package till date allocated to welfare history.
Union FM has announced this package for the upliftment of standard of living, which encompasses sustainable development and infrastructure development for Tripura’s tribal area.
Along with the funding from the world bank to ensure multi-purpose development in the state’s tribal areas. As tribal acquire one-third of the state’s population.
As stated by Tripura’s Chief Minister Biplab Deb, it covers 460 community-based projects, approximately counting in 80,000 beneficiaries to be placed under an assortment of the projects.
Further adding two more projects as stated by our FM Sitharaman, widening of state highways (14.15 crore) and various works in the capital city (7.4 crores).
Asian Development Bank-funded for three groundwater treatment plants that were digitally inaugurated by Sitharaman.
“These three water treatment plants, with a total capacity of 22.40 MLD (million liter per day), will help in providing clean water in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area,” she said.
FM, on her two-day visit to Tripura, inaugurated local projects worth Rs 189 crore and also reviewed the status of being worked on projects which are Externally Aided Projects (EAPs).
Aiming at the overall enlargement of the state, touching onto areas like education, health, power and assist livelihoods. EAPs include Project for Sustainable Catchment Forest Management in Tripura (funding by Japan Internal Cooperation Agency), Tripura Urban and Tourism Development Project (funded by Asian Development Bank) and North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project (sponsored by World Bank).
