While Bollywood movies are now the least watched, Tollywood movies are the reason for the same as these movies more most watched due to their new content which attracts the audience.
Recently, many South Indian movies have hit the box in competition with Bollywood movies. Including RRR, KGF 2, Pushpa, and Vikram: Hitlist. Tollywood movies are grabbing more attention from the audience in comparison to Bollywood movies. Many Bollywood celebs shared their opinions on the success of Tollywood movies over Bollywood movies.
Filmmaker Karan Johar said Bollywood lacks conviction, unlike the south Indian film industry where filmmakers know that they want and are not seeking validation. “Everyone [in Bollywood] just hops on whatever trend is popular…We are…victims of herd mentality,” added Karan. “We are victims of everything we should be running away from like paid PR,” stated Karan.
When asked about Hindi films not doing well at the box office, actor Varun Dhawan said that there have been “seven-eight major flops” in south cinema too. “That has…happened because nothing was released in the last 2.5 years…In the Hindi film industry, we have a lot of good films coming up. Every film can’t be a success,” he added.
Actress Alia Bhatt, speaking about the recent success of pan-India films might be made on a big scale, however, it’s the emotion in the story that connects people. “What I’ve also learned from this experience now that we’re…having this conversation, is that, there are no Hindi…Tamil…Telugu films, there are Indian films,” she added.
While Salman Khan at an event mentioned his movie ‘Godfather’ with Chiranjeevi and explained how South Indian movies are doing great nowadays. He praised Ram Charan’s performance in RRR and said that he had a wonderful experience working with him. He has known Chiru Garu for the longest time and they have also been friends. He wished his son his birthday and the success of the film. “I am very proud of him. It feels so good that he is doing well.”
