Borussia Dortmund a German-based professional Bundesliga team prevails against the Premier League titans Manchester United to beat them 2-3 in a friendly contest on Sunday(Monday IST).
Man Utd manager Erik Ten Hag rested their key players like Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and their new signing 24-year-old Mason Mount on the bench. As a result, Manchester were not at their full strength during their friendly at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas.
Dortmund’s youngest debutant Youssoufa Moukoko made a strike during the second half of the game which made the game more amusing.
The first 45 minutes were more Man United dominant despite star players not being in the starting XI, Diogo Dalot’s long strike in the 24th minute gave Manchester a boost during the first half.
But the game took another side as the first half ended with Dortmund’s forward Donyell Malen scoring two brilliant goals within a minute.
The equalizer came when the red devils failed and their defence lapsed in the right against Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi.
Despite the attention of Manchester defenders, Karim managed to advance the ball for Donyell who converted the opportunity from the close end.
Donyell Malen managed to secure his second goal a minute later after his first one, this time capitalizing on a glaring mistake by Manchester United’s defender, Victor Lindelof.
The opportunity arose when a United defender lost possession while attempting to initiate an attacking play from his team’s defensive area. Malen quickly seized the chance and swiftly took a shot on goal, finding the back of the net for his second successful strike of the match.
The unlucky Manchester United were not to go 3-1 down during the start of the second half this time, the former skipper Harry Maguire committing a defensive slip. However, goalkeeper Andre Onana saved the shot from Sebastian Haller.
United came with an equalizer in the 52nd minute of the game where the Brazillian Antony overcame the legendary defender Mats Hummels. Antony’s excellent low shot awed the football fans in the stadium.
Rashford with his attacking threat came into play with 30 minutes remaining but it was the German club who managed to secure the victory with Moukoko’s winner assisted with the brilliant opening by Marco Reus in the 71st minute of the game.
