A young woman who chronicled her mental health issues and how she dealt with them for several years has died. Prior to becoming a social media star, Beth Matthews, who was just 26 years old, was a mental health sufferer and a serious trauma patient.
Beth Matthews, a blogger, and influencer who loved the outdoors opened up about her mental health difficulties and how she dealt with them in a blog called “Life Beyond the Ledge,” inspiring others to do the same. Beth had 26,300 Twitter followers and a following thanks to her brutally honest blog postings.
According to reports, she provided people with the courage to speak up and directed those in need to support groups regularly. The young Cornish woman died on Monday (March 21), according to reports. Beth was seriously injured four years ago when she attempted suicide, which was not her first attempt, as she explained her mental health problems.
The 26-year-old has previously tried suicide, including on a road in Cornwall in April 2019. Following a suicide attempt in April 2019, Beth Matthews began blogging about her mental health journey.
Beth’s attempted suicide in 2019
Natalia Cartmell, a college student at the time, told Cornwall Live about the terrifying early-morning event while walking to work at Tesco along the A388 Tavistock Road in Launceston. Two days later, Beth suffered significant injuries at the same location, including shattered bones, a damaged spine, and damaged internal organs. However, paramedics and Devon Air Ambulance saved her life.
Natalia recounted the incident at the time: “It was around a quarter to six and I was walking across the bridge when I looked over to the other side and noticed a black shadow.” I spotted a person as I drew closer and more attentive, but it didn’t register at first.
“Then I noticed she was on the wrong side of the railings and realized she was attempting to leap,”I dashed over to her, and she yelled at me from across the road, telling me not to go and to stay on the other side. I just kept going, hurried over to her, and tossed my stuff to the ground.
I grabbed her shoulders and tried to pull her over, but she resisted and pushed her way down the road. Because she was protesting, I had to wrap my arms around her neck and drag her into a headlock. I had to make an effort to get her down on the floor. “
Beth’s final statements to the media
“Ironically, the injuries I sustained from a suicide attempt (nerve damage, broken bones, paralyzed bladder, paralyzed bowel, paralyzed foot, chronic pain, etc.) are the reason I’m now suicidal,” she said in one of her last messages on her account.
At the end of her most recent tweet, which has been seen by a lot of people, Beth said she was “struggling so much,” and she apologized to her fans for “being so negative.”
Hundreds of people have expressed their sorrow on the thread since then.
