A new survey has revealed that Liz Truss’s victory over Rishi Sunak is inevitable. Rishi Sunak might face defeat. The Conservative Party’s results are just a few weeks away. Because of this, there is a close fight for the Prime Minister post in Britain.
September 5 will decide the fate of Britain when the results of the polling will be declared. But analysts and verdicts are in the favour of Liz Truss.
So, let us demystify the top reasons why Rishi Sunak might face defeat:
Rishi Sunak’s wife alleged tax evasion
Ms. Akshata Murthy, Rishi Sunak’s wife, came into limelight for all the wrong reasons in the past few months. Akshata Murthy is a rich heiress because she is the daughter of India’s well known industrialist Narayan Murthy. She holds a 0.93 percent stake in her father’s company, Infosys.
Her personal income and assets are so vast that she is said to be richer than Queen Elizabeth. She still holds an Indian citizenship. Moreover, she is a British non- domicile citizen. Due to this, she isn’t entitled to pay any taxes on her income from outside of Britain on the annual payment of thirty thousand Euros.
She didn’t pay taxes on the dividend she received from her Infosys shares which painted a bad image of her in the social media. After reports of tax evasion in the month of April, Rishi Sunak clarified that she has been paying all the taxes.
In July, she was again infamously highlighted in media across Britain. She was spotted serving tea to media persons in a shop run by the brand Emma Lacy. One cup of tea is worth 38 pounds each.
Sunak’s resignations from Johnson’s government :
Rishi Sunak was one of the first leaders to resign from Boris Johnson’s government. Many of the leaders followed suit. Due to his move, he is regarded as one of the reasons for the downfall of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government.
Some of the Boris loyalists who have been very vocal about the downfall of the government, have pointed out that Rishi Sunak played a pivotal role in the debacle. They have been very vocal against Sunak and hold him responsible for everything.
For instance, Johnson’s loyalist and Britain’s cultural secretary Nadine Dorries re-tweeted an image of Sunak dressed as Brutus. While Boris Johnson was dressed as Julius Caesar pointing to Sunak’s resignation. The tweet was condemned though as it showed Sunak in a negative light.
Support from former contenders to Liz show why Rishi Sunak might face defeat:
In a major boost Liz Truss has got the backing of some of the former United Kingdom Prime Minister race contenders. Tory backbencher Tom Tugendhat, who was knocked off the race has shown support for the candidature of Liz Truss.
He believes that Truss’s promise of immediate tax rate cuts will provide much relief to the struggling British economy. After watching both of them clash head to head on the television in heated debates, he is convinced that “she’s ready” for the coveted post.
What do major poll analysts have to say?
It is indeed a race against time for Rishi Sunak this time. Independent predictions and surveys have shown Liz Truss ahead of Sunak with an overwhelming majority.
YouGov in its poll analysis has given a 34 point lead to Liz Truss. This extends to a 38 point lead if we include forced choice too. ConservativeHome Survey has also found that Liz Truss is leading the race.
With even the poll analysts in Truss favour, Rishi needs a massive game changer to win the elections and defeat the predictions. With the election becoming more hot and spicy, it will be worthwhile to see how he gets help from.
