The South Korean famous music band BTS had appointed as honorary public relations ambassador of the 2030 Busan World Expo on Tuesday.
Last month it was decided by the Septet that they will organize a global concert to support their country’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo in the port city of Busan in October.
The ceremony was been held at BTS studio HYBE Co Ltd on the 19th-floor conference hall, which was co-hosted by the 2030 Busan World Expo Bidding Committee and Busan city.

The press released from Busan Metropolitan City, that the event was been attended by all the members of BTS.
The ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Han Deok-soo and co-chair of the 2030 Busan World Expo, Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Choi Tae-won was also present along with Busan Mayor Park Hyung-Joon, and HYBE CEO Park Ji-Won.
BTS Members Statements:
Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon said in event the city of Busan has been working together with BTS as partners at the World Expo for the leap of mankind and world prosperity.
He further says “BTS, which has made a great contribution to the development of human culture, is a global leader that best meets the purpose of the World Expo, which proposes universal values that respond to the new era and presents a prospect for the future”.
Last year, the popular South Korean actor Lee Jung-jae was appointed as the first public relations ambassador for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.
Hences, Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon further added statement that:
“After world-famous actor Lee Jung-jae, BTS joining as a public relations ambassador is expected to greatly increase interest in and support for the 2030 Busan World Expo, both at home and abroad”.
The Prime Minister Han Duk-soo expressed his gratitude to BTS for accepting the ambassadorship for the expo by saying:
“The most essential part to our success would be the support from Korean citizens as well as the global community.
We believe that BTS will take the most pivotal role during the process. With the support from BTS and our people, we will be able to achieve our goal”.
KCCI Chairman Chey Tae-won said they are excited to see how the music group’s participation will affect the World Expo 2030 bid.
He further says “We’ve got a thousand troops on our side. At the end of last year, BTS online concert was attended by ARMY (BTS fan group) from 197 countries/regions, more than the number of Member States of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), which is 170”.
About the BTS:
BTS (Korean: 방탄소년단; Bangtan Sonyeondan), also known as the Bangtan boy, is a South Korean boy band formed in 2010 and debuting in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment.
The members include RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
In 2015, they got popular in the United States and had broken many sales records, by becoming the first Korean group to receive an award by the Recording Industry Association of America for their single “Mic Drop”.
They are the first Korean band to top the US Billboard 200.
Along with their great success records BTS had also been included in Time’s “100 Most Influential People In The World”.
They had also donated to charities and launched the “Love myself” campaign which helped programs stop violence against children and teenagers.
In 2021, the then South Korean President Moon Jae-in had appointed BTS as the ‘Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generation and Culture’ ahead of the 76th UN General Assembly.
In June, BTS had announced that they will be taking a break to focus on individual projects.

The World Expo is held every five years and attracts millions of visitors to the host city during its six-month duration.
The last World Expo was held from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, in Dubai after being postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
