In the post-poll Bengal, violent BJP leader Abhijit Sarkar was murdered. CBI announced the reward for absconded criminals in Abhijit Sarkar Murder Case.
The TMC (Trinamool Congress) won the election with a majority after the votes were tallied on 2nd May 2021, in an Assembly election held in West Bengal from 27th March to 29th April 2021. West Bengal’s significant parties erupted as soon as the results were announced.
The violence erupted over the whole state of West Bengal. More than 15000 incidences of violence were recorded throughout the conflict. The violence claimed the lives of about 15 individuals.
Among the people who were killed in the violence of West Bengal, one of them was the BJP Leader in West Bengal named Abhijit Sarkar. He was a renowned leader in West Bengal who was assassinated in the violence.
After his death, a massive protest was made against Mamta Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, and an allegation was made against the TMC for assassinating the BJP leader. The leader was assassinated by 7-8 people who entered their house and assaulted him to kill him.
The FIR for the same was registered at Kolkata’s Narkeldanga police station. The assassination was made two hours after the assembly election was declared.
The BJP workers in West Bengal demanded a CBI investigation from the High Court of West Bengal. The investigation for the violence was handed over to CBI by order dated 25.15.2021 of Calcutta High Court. In the CBI investigation, 20 names came into the limelight.
In its charge sheet, the CBI identified Sanjay Samanta, Samir Samanta, Sankar Das alias Buno, Arun Dey, Rahul Dey, Sourav Dey, Sukhdeo Poddar, Amit Das, Arup Das, Biswajit Das, Sanjay Barik, Amit Das, Tumpa Das alias Kali, Gopal Das, Papiya Barik, Sanjay Basak, Sufal Bos.
On 10th February 2022, the Central Bureau of Investigation held a press conference in which they declared 7-8 people absconded, and CBI announced a reward on seven or more people of Rs. 50000 each. The names are as follows: Arun Dey, Sukhdeo Poddar, Gopal Das, Saurav Dey, Rahul Dey, Biswajit Das, Amit Das.
