SHANGHAI, Nov 25, – China reported another record-high daily COVID-19 infection rate on Friday,
Cities across the nation enacted laws and restrictions to stop outbreaks.
The new local COVID-19 infections on Thursday surpassed the previous record for the second day in a row, which was set in the middle of April when Shanghai’s commercial center was crippled by a two-month-long citywide lockdown affecting its 25 million residents.
China reported 32,695 new local cases on Thursday, up from 31,444 the previous day, of which 3,041 were symptomatic and 29,654 were asymptomatic, excluding imported infections.
Large-scale outbreaks are numerous and dispersed, with Guangzhou in the south and Chongqing in the southwest recording the majority of cases, though hundreds of new infections are being reported daily in places like Chengdu, Jinan, Lanzhou, Xian, and Wuhan.
On Thursday, the number of cases in Shijiazhuang quadrupled from the previous day to 3,197.
According to local government data, the Chinese capital of Beijing reported 424 symptomatic and 1,436 asymptomatic cases on Thursday, down from 509 symptomatic and 1,139 asymptomatic cases the day before.
The local health authority reported that on Thursday, the financial center of Shanghai reported nine symptomatic cases and 77 asymptomatic cases, compared to nine symptomatic cases and 58 asymptomatic cases the day before.

According to local authorities, Guangzhou, a city in the south with a population of nearly 19 million, reported 257 new locally transmitted symptomatic and 7,267 asymptomatic cases yesterday as opposed to 428 symptomatic and 7,192 asymptomatic cases the day before.
According to local government officials, Chongqing reported 258 new symptomatic locally transmitted COVID-19 infections and 6,242 asymptomatic cases on Thursday, up from 409 symptomatic and 7,437 asymptomatic cases the day before.
