Four Chengdu J-10 fighters, a Y-8 antisubmarine warfare plane and three H-6 bombers flew across the median line in the Taiwan Strait that separates the island from the mainland on Saturday, said the Ministry of Defence.

On Saturday, 12th of November, some aircraft activity was seen across the median line in the Taiwan Strait by the Chinese Military, the Taiwanese Defense Ministry has confirmed. It is said that it was a part of a prolonged campaign of intimidation against the self-governing island democracy that Beijing claims is a part of its territory.

The Taiwan Strait, which separates the island from the mainland, saw 10 of the aircraft fly over the middle line on Saturday. According to the report, six Shenyang J-11 and four J-16 aircraft were among them.
Followed a civil war that left the Communist Party in charge of the mainland and led to the separation of Taiwan from China in 1949. Thus, the island has never been a part of the People’s Republic of China however, Beijing asserts that it must reunite with the mainland, if necessary by force.
During this year, the Chinese government’s intimidation campaign against Taiwan accelerated under President Xi Jinping. It has launched missiles into the waters and dispatched bombers and fighter jets to fly close to the island.
The Taiwanese Ministry of Defence website clarifies that Taiwan’s military also saw three H-6 bombers, a Y-8 anti-submarine warfare aircraft, and four Chengdu J-10 fighters southwest of the island. Additionally discovered, it alleged, were three Chinese drones.
