Madhya Pradesh
In Khargone, a city in Madhya Pradesh, communal riots broke out on the day of the Hindu religious festival of Ram Navmi during the devotees’ procession through the city between two communities. The devotees were stone-pelted on their way.
More than a hundred families have left behind their houses and possessions and taken up shelters in different cities at their relatives’ houses, seeking safety.
The rioters damaged more than 20 vehicles. Thirty people were injured on that day, and SP Siddharth Chaudhary was shot in his leg as well. The 16-year old boy who was nearly shot in the head is currently on a ventilator in a hospital in Indore.
Gujarat
Similar to this, Khambat and Himmat Nagar in Gujrat too were in the news for the occurrence of communal riots in the cities. Nine people were held with a violence charge against them. They pelted the procession with stones. Reportedly, one person was killed during the riot on Sunday. Currently, the situation is under control in the city, as per the police.
Stone-pelting communal clashes have also been reported in Himmat Nagar, and a CrPC Section 144 has been imposed in the town as a result of the situation.
Jharkhand
Stone pelting on the procession during Ram Navmi triggered a stampede in Hirahi-Hendlaso, a village in Jharkhand, resulting in multiple injuries.Two houses, a dozen motorcycles, and a minivan were set ablaze in the city.
Action To Be Taken
A claim tribunal will be set up and the compensation for all the damage caused by the aggressors will be recovered within 3 months. This is the first time a claim tribunal will be set up under the
Bill to have a hearing for the Khargone riots aggressors. A claim commissioner would be appointed to survey and take account of the public and private property damage. House-owners or renters alike can file for compensation, as can the collector or head of office, in the case of government property.
