Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other party members put up their display pictures of Former PM Jawaharlal Nehru in the light of the PM’s “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign.
Rahul Gandhi, Congress Leader, recently changed his Twitter account photo on Wednesday. The photo consists of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru with the National Flag in his hand.
This happened after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged everyone to change their display pictures on all social media accounts. This was part of their new campaign as “Har Ghar Tiranga” in order to mark the celebration for 75th Independence Day.
Rahul Gandhi’s sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and the party’s official handle on Twitter as well as other platforms posted the same picture and set them as their display pictures.
The Central government asked the citizens to change their display pictures between August 2 and 15.
The BJP leaders, including the Union Ministers and chief Ministers like Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, and Yogi Adityanath along with Shivraj Singh Chouhan also changed their display pictures to the national flag.
On the occasion of Pingali Venkayya’s birth, he designed the national flag, PM Modi also paid tribute to him.
Taking digs at each other
BJP took on Congress by saying that Rahul Gandhi should also look outside of family and permit the party members to use their images with the Tricolor.
Further, Rahul Gandhi’s colleague Jairam Ramesh questioned the PM that whether the organization which has not raised the National Flag at the headquarters in Nagpur for 52 years, so why would they listen to his request on putting the “tiranga” as their profile photo on social media accounts.
Bike Rally but Congress missing
On Wednesday, a bike rally was also conducted in Delhi. The Union Ministers and BJP MPs participated carrying flags from Red Fort till India Gate.
The Culture Ministry organized a bike rally for representatives from all parties, but only BJP and NDA officials appeared to participate, according to BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla.
Well, this was to ensure to bring everyone together to mark the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. But according to Sambit Patra, BJP spokesperson, this event was also politicized.
