In a Gang riot taken place in Honduran prison it was reported that 46 women have been burned to death by droplets of gunfire, knocked them down with machetes and locked the survivors of these attacks in the cell and splashed flammable liquid all over them, an official said on Wednesday.
WORST ATTROCITY NAMED AS “MONSTROUS RIOT”:
President Xiomara Castro called the riot as “Monstrous Riot”. The carnage on Tuesday’s riot was claimed as the worst atrocity in the women’s prison in recent times.
The Authorities found dozens of bodies after the violence on Tuesday at the prison in Tamara, said Yuri Mora, spokesperson for the National Police Investigation Agency.
Seven of the victims were admitted in the hospital with knife stabs and gunshot said the employees. While 26 of the victims were burned to death and others were killed by gunshots or knife stabs.
PRESIDENT BLAMES IT ON THE POWERFUL STREET GANG:
President Xiomara held the Barrio 18 gang responsible for all the mishaps and tragic incidents and did not reveal how the women were killed.
SOURCE FOR ARMS TO THE PRISONERS WERE NOT REVEALED:
But the President remained silent about the sources through which the inmates of the prison who were being claimed as Barrio 18 got the arms and how were they able to move freely to an adjoining cell block? Are the questions which are yet to be answered by the President.
According to the Initial Reports it was stated that the doors to the adjoining cell was left open, facilitating for the attack.
AMOUNT OF WEAPON SURPRISED ALL:
The amount of weapon confiscated from the prison left the people in shock.
There were totally 18 Pistols, an assault Rifle, Two Machine Pistols and Two Grenades which were smuggled into the prison.

“Obviously, there must have been human failures” says Lo’pez Rochez.
PRISON AUTHORITIES STATEMENT:
The Assistant Commissioner of Hondura’s Prison system said “We are investigating all the employees at the centre” is all they have to say and nothing more or less about the incident.
WAS THE RIOT ALREADY PLANNED?
With the family members of the victims being not informed, the doors of the cell being left open, smuggling of arms inside the prisons and guards being not injured is all raising suspicions in the minds of people, and it gives many people a strong stench of belief that Was the Riot Pre-Planned.
AMPLE OF WARNINGS GIVEN AHEAD – The Family Members Say:
There were ample of warnings given ahead of Tuesday’s riot is what the families of the victims say when they had seen the victims in their last jail visit.
According to Johanno Paola Soriano, who was waiting outside the morgue in Tegucigalpa for news about her mother and sister. Both were suspects for drug trafficking but were kept in the area for convicted prisoners.
When she lastly visited her mother told that “They (Barrio 18) were out of control, they were fighting all the time.”
Another woman who was waiting for her friend said “She told me the last time I saw her that the (Barrio) 18 people had threatened them that they were going to kill them if they didn’t turn over a relative” she said.
OFFICIALS STATE THE REASON FOR RIOT:
The head of the prison suggested that this riot has taken place because of their attempt to crack down on illicit activity inside the prison cell’s and walls.
HONDURA’S PRISONS HISTORY OF RIOTS:
This is not the first time that the riots are being taken place in this prison this prison is being prone to the deadly riots. One of them being the most disastrous of the century which occurred in 2012 where 361 inmates died in fire.
It would be best if the state strengthens it’s security system to prevent these kinds of incidents
