A man was reportedly shot dead by a friend in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar area on Saturday night. The police suspect it to be a case of passion, involving a conflict of romantic relationships, a suspected love affair, sources were found reporting to news outlets.
On July 17, the police received an emergency call around 2 am reporting the incident and the police dispatched an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) to the scene where the officials found a man lying injured near the Ramlila ground, reportedly sustaining a bullet shot in his chest.
The victim, identified as Abhishek Singh, was quickly rushed to the hospital where he was declared “brought dead on arrival.” The doctors there said Singh, 23, had a gunshot injury in his chest and attempts to revive him had been futile.
During the investigation, it was found that Abhishek Singh had gone to meet one of his friends near the Ramlila Ground in Delhi’s Azadpur area. The two had reportedly had a heated argument over some issue, when Singh’s friend got agitated and proceeded to shoot him in the chest. The nature and location of the shot leaving Singh in a life or death situation.
The police have registered a case of murder and are examining witnesses to uncover what happened and who’s responsible. Several teams have been formed to nab the accused. An angle of love affairs has been suspected and the alleged argument was likely over betrayal over love, inciting the other to take the dire step. It is also being considered if the attack was pre-planned as the still unidentified accused was already armed as he met Singh.
Delhi had seen another shooting incident about a week ago on Wednesday when a man was shot dead by two assailants riding bikes while he was riding back home on a bike with his wife and 8-year-old son in Delhi’s Govindpuri area.
