New Delhi: The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal announced that the Delhi government will host a 30-day “Delhi Shopping Festival” in the capital next year. The festival will be the biggest in India and will commence from January 28 to February 26.
The festival will have 200 concerts for entertainment, and food walks and will also offer huge discounts on products. For those living outside of Delhi, the government will make special arrangements by roping in travel agencies and creating special holiday packages including flight tickets or train fares, hotel accommodation, and a visit to the festival.
Addressing through a video conference, Kejriwal stated, “This will be the biggest shopping festival in India. We are starting it now. I expect that in a few years, we will make it the biggest shopping festival in the world.”
He said that the festival will have guests from the country as well as abroad to take a taste of Delhi and its culture. This event will generate thousands of employment opportunities and will give a major impetus to the markets that suffered great losses at the hands of the pandemic.
To quote him, “It will be a huge opportunity for Delhi’s businessmen, an opportunity for them to increase their business. It will be a huge opportunity to present Delhi on an international level. It will generate thousands of jobs.”

There will be heavy discounts on all products from clothes, and food to household items during the festival. “Separate programs for the entertainment of elders, children, and youngsters, will be organized. About 200 different types of programs and events will be organized,” the CM said.
There will also be exhibitions on spirituality, gaming, wellness, and technology. “Those who are not in Delhi should block the dates and book their tickets to attend the shopping festival. For 30 days during the festival, Delhi will be decked up like a bride. All major markets and malls will be decorated. It will offer an unparalleled shopping experience to people,” Kejriwal said.
The chief minister said people will also get a glimpse of Delhi’s art and culture at the shopping festival. Through the event, the government aims to promote tourism in Delhi where people will also be able to enjoy the food of all varieties, including the famous ones from the national Capital.
“This festival will have something for every section of society. From the rich to the middle class to the poor, the 30-day event will cater to everyone. And it is not just going to be about shopping. People will get unlimited entertainment through games, live shows, and concerts for which we will be hiring the biggest artists from across the country,” he said.
