The Central government gave ‘The Kashmir Files’ director Vivek Agnihotri with ‘Y’ category security cover, as well as CRPF cover across India as the filmmaker received threats on social media following the release of his new film, which is based on the life of Kashmiri Pandits.
He will be safeguarded by the CRPF during his stay and transit throughout India. The ‘Y’ category cover entails the deployment of four to five armed commandos near the person who needs protection.
The film, which has grossed over a hundred crores at the box office and has garnered extraordinary government support, is based on the migration of Kashmiri Hindus from the valley during the militancy’s peak.
Several governments throughout the nation, including Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Goa, Haryana, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand, have given their support and provided tax incentives.
It’s also gotten a lot of flak for the government’s support of a commercial film, which is unprecedented. Furthermore, because of the film’s sensitive political nature and claims of inaccuracy/deliberate fabrication of facts, the government has been accused of engaging in propaganda.
But in surprise, Bhupesh Baghel, CM of Chhattisgarh, blamed the then-BJP-dominated national government, headed by the ex-Prime Minister V.P. Singh, for failing to stop the exodus.
He went on to say that the Army would not have been called in at the time if it hadn’t been for the intervention of former Prime Minister and Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi.
After overcoming legal challenges, Vivek Agnihotri’s film Kashmir Files was finally released on March 11th, 2022, but it has sparked violent sloganeering at several movie theatres, with critics claiming that rather than healing wounds, the film has unintentionally increased hatred between the two communities.
People can be seen using harsh words for Muslims both inside and outside movie theatres, with a few using highly offensive language and raising angry slogans, according to videos on social media.
Amidst this situation, many netizens show their immense love for the movie as it depicts the “real story.” After seeing it at the cinema, audiences are filled with emotions after watching it.
About the movie, ‘The Kasmir Files’
The movie is based on the story of Pushker Nath Pandit starring Anupam Kher and his family. It revolves around the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from the valley in the early 1990s. It is the story of useless hope, the fight for one’s respect, and many more. This movie could be considered one of the best works of Anupam Kher.
Kashmir has traditionally been known as a Muslim-dominated region. However, during the raging conflict between India and Pakistan, a number of Hindu Pandits were killed. The film is about such stories and is told in an engrossing manner. This is a side of Kashmir that few people are aware of, and Vivek Agnihotri has done an excellent job of bringing it to light.
The film is about Kashmiri Hindus. It is the story of Kashmir’s birthplace of the deepest Hindu thought, which continues to serve as an alert to all humanity.
It’s the story of India’s weak governments and their whitewashing attitudes as a result of their inability to face the truth. It’s the narrative of what happens when a society refuses to stand unified and resist the brutal savages, preferring instead to pacify and deal with those who just want to destroy you.
It’s also the story of our soldiers being sacrificed in the name of removing terrorists but not having the fortitude to address the root causes of terrorism. It’s a never-ending narrative of death and destruction for the world’s most evolved society, which is on the verge of extinction.
The movie reflects Agnihotri’s hard work and immense research as it shows some vital points about society and establishes a perception of today’s time. The whole movie successfully depicted a “real story.”
The movie features a powerful performance by Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Bhasha Sumbli, Darshan Kumaar, and many others.
