Guinness World Records announces three new records being awarded to country music legend, Dolly Parton. She received the certificates for her records in Nashville, Tennessee amid humility and gratefulness for her fans.
Parton was accompanied by her manager, Danny Nozell and official adjudicator, Michael Empric to receive her three certificates. Dolly achieved a world record for the longest streak of number one hits in the United States Top Country Album charts among female artists.
Her record started from her 1977 album, “New Harvest…First Gathering” till her 2020 released album, “A Holly Dolly Christmas”. This makes for an impressive total of 43 years and 156 days at the top of the charts.
The feat puts Dolly Parton in the third spot behind Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard. In contrast, Johnny Cash’s number one records span over a50 years and 91 days, and Merle Haggard’s span over 48 years and 192 days.
Most album releases and most top ten songs
Dolly Parton also received a record for the most number of album releases for a female artist. She has released around 65 albums since her debut. Her first album was aptly titled, “Hello, I’m Dolly”. Dolly’s latest project was in 2022, titled, “Run, Rose, Run”.
Guinness also recognized her for the highest number of top ten songs in the female country singer category for country music. Her 2022 compilation album titled, “Diamonds & Rhinestones: The Greatest Hits Collection” was the 48th entry into the top 10 list. Her first top 10 song was “My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy” in December 1969. Dolly has had numerous top-10 songs over the years, making her the best candidate for the record.
Dolly Parton holds several other world records such as most decades on the U.S. hot country songs chart by a female artist, being the first country singer to be nominated for the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards, and most Grammy nominations for a female country singer. These are but only a couple of her world records. With her latest records, the count comes to 10 total Guinness World Records.
Humble beginnings
Dolly Parton was one of twelve children cramped up in a one-room cabin in Pittman Centre, Tennessee. Her love for music started with church choir practices and her first guitar bought by her uncle. After moving to Nashville after high school, she found fame as a songwriter. With multiple singles and albums, Dolly Parton has shown no signs of slowing down.
In May 2024, she released her debut rock single, “World on Fire” from her upcoming album “Rockstar” at the Academy of Country Music awards. Post her song, Dolly found herself on a new Billboard chart, the Rock Digital Song Sales chart.
With so many feathers in her cap, Dolly is showing no signs of a slowdown. Fans are already waiting for her upcoming album “Rockstar” to see a new side of her but with the old Dolly magic. Rockstar would be the 66th album for the Guinness World Record holder.
