India to lead store expansion in international markets for Domino’s Pizza. Jubilant Food works launches 20-min delivery in 20 zones in India
Domino’s Pizza in India–
Domino’s Pizza, the largest quick service restaurant chain in India, has switched from its almost two-decade-old “30-minute or free” delivery guarantee in its fastest-growing market worldwide to a 20-minute delivery guarantee service on Tuesday across 20 zones in 14 cities. Giving customers a hot, fresh pizza is one of the main reasons Domino’s India places such an emphasis on 20-minute delivery. However, it claims that the company’s motto is “safety first for riders” and that deliveries will be made in 20 minutes where it is possible to do so through a large network of stores.
As an outcome, the business will now need to expand its retail network and make sure that its hot pizzas reach customers on time. Bengaluru, for instance, has 165 stores. According to Jubilant, the relocation is being driven by enhancing and optimizing in-store process improvements, technology advancements, interventions for greater operational efficiencies, and expanding stores nearby.
Domino’s CEO Russel Weiner –
Domino’s Pizza Inc. aims to almost double its current presence. The largest pizza company in the world has 20,000 locations across 95 countries, with 6700 of those in the United States and 1700 in India. The number of locations in India will increase to roughly 3000 over the next several years, according to the CEO of Domino’s on Tuesday. Domino’s decision was made amid intense competition in India’s fast-food industry. Asking about the competitions by delivery kitchens and cloud kitchens, he responded, “what is really important is that unlike other restaurants and delivery apps, dominos Pizza is always delivered by Domino’s. Our Pizza never leaves our hands until it gets to your hands. there is no middle person.”
Weiner added, “India is a major market for us and the largest market store-wise outside of the United States. We plan to add roughly 250 stores every year.” Although Domino’s can deliver pizza in 20 minutes in other regions, according to him this is the first time ever for any business anywhere in the world that the company is openly committing to its customers about delivering it within that time span.
D’Elia continued by saying that the new initiative will boost customer frequency and retention while also boosting sales and store productivity. “Given that people are wanting convenience more and more, we think this is the age of delivery. We believe that across markets, the delivery segment will continue to expand and likely continue to profit share from the dine-in category.
In India, deliveries and sit-ins account for 30% of all business profits. However, businesses continue to rely on their storefronts as their main source of new customers. Domino’s, a fast-food business with roots in the late 1990s, has the largest retail network in the industry. The market for quick-service restaurants in India is expected to increase from 145 billion in FY21 to 534 billion by FY25.
