The central government has given Z+ security to presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu.
On Tuesday night, the opposition parties named former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha as their candidate for the presidency, while the BJP-led NDA named Droupadi Murmu as its nominee.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his best wishes following the announcement of Murmu’s name. Later, PM Modi published a message on social media saying, “Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji has dedicated her life to helping the underprivileged, oppressed, and marginalized members of society. She has extensive managerial expertise and a distinguished record as governor. She will make a fantastic President of our country, I’m sure of it.”
Why did BJP choose Droupadi Murmu? Who is she?
Droupadi Murmu, a politician from India’s tribal community, was born in 1958. If elected, 64-year-old Murmu will be the country’s first head of state from an Odisha tribal group.
She was the first tribal person to hold the office of governor of Jharkhand. When Navin Patnaik established the government in Odisha with the help of the BJP, she was a member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Cabinet. Naveen Patnaik of the BJD is supporting the NDA candidate
As a former governor of Jharkhand, a state with a tribal majority and governed by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, a UPA ally, Murmu’s selection as the presidential candidate could be a serious blow to the opposition movement.
Jharkhand as a part of the opposition, Mukti Morcha is anticipated to support Yashwant Sinha in his bid for the presidency. However, Murmu has a good working connection with the state government as a previous governor of Jharkhand. This might put the JMM in a difficult situation.
Droupadi Murmu gets Z+ security after getting nominated in presidential elections-
According to authorities, the Centre has given Droupadi Murmu, the NDA’s presidential candidate, a Z+ security cover of CRPF commandos. The armed squad took over the security of Ms. Murmu, 64, early Wednesday morning.
Following a meeting of the party’s parliamentary board that included Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top leaders on Tuesday night, BJP President JP Nadda announced the candidacy of Ms. Murmu, a party leader from Odisha who previously served as Jharkhand Governor.
As soon as this news was made, according to officials, the Union home ministry ordered the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to send out its VIP protection squad to handle Ms. Murmu’s security.
A danger perception security analysis issued by central security agencies for the NDA presidential contender provided the basis for the home ministry’s decision, the officials added.
A group of about 14-16 troops of the paramilitary force headquartered in Odisha has taken over the responsibility of providing the security support to Ms. Murmu. The officials declared that they will accompany her on all of her journeys across the state and the nation. Her residence in Rairangpur, Odisha, would also be protected by the security forces.
Over the next month, Ms. Murmu is anticipated to travel widely to meet with lawmakers and party leaders in order to solicit support for her candidacy.
Since the odds are in favour of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, it is anticipated that the commando team will protect her until she assumes leadership as the nation’s first citizen (NDA).
The first family of the Congress party, which includes party president Sonia Gandhi and her children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra among others, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are protected by the CRPF.
Similar security protection from the NSG commandos known as the “black cats” was given to Ram Nath Kovind, the current president and NDA presidential candidate in 2017.
To choose President Kovind’s replacement, the presidential election will be held on July 18. The results will be announced on July 21. Droupadi Murmur is one of the candidates for the presidential election, there are many more candidates who will be fighting for the position. The person who becomes the president should fulfil all their responsibilities to make the country stand and grow.
