Tata neu app brings all tata brands under one super application
The Tata Group launched the ‘Tata neu’ app on 7 Apr, 2022. The launched app is the ‘super app’ as it conglomerates all the tata digital services and apps under one application. The announcement of the product launch was made through an advertisement on its Google Play store page. The President of the eCommerce arm is Pratik Pal, CEO of Tata Digital.
With its only users limited to the Tata users and their families, the brand started advertising the product publicly in the ongoing Indian Premium League (IPL) tournament. The app was in the testing stage for almost a year before being launched in the market.
What is Tata Neu, the super app?
Tata neu is the one-stop destination for all the tata digital services and apps. There is a lot to explore and experience in the World of Tata Neu and the super app read the description on the Google Play Store page. The ‘neu app’ plans to compete with other super apps like Amazon, Reliance Jio, and others that offer the same package. There are 2.2 million neu users.
Services offered:
The users can now book their flight tickets, book hotels, order groceries, medicines, purchase electronics, and apparel from Westside, all owned by the Tata group. For every new purchase, the app plans to reward its users with ‘Neu’ coins. These coins can be redeemed on other consecutive purchases.
Not only buying and selling of products is to happen on the app. The application also has its own Unified Payments Interface (UPI). This helps the users to send or receive money from their family and friends. Every Quick Response (QR) code scanner, be it at theatres or local shops can be scanned and used to pay through the Tata pay UPI.
The app includes services from Air Asia, Big Basket, Croma, IHCL, Qmin, Starbucks, Tata 1Mg, Tata CLIQ, Tata Play, and clothing brand Westside. This is to extend to Vistara, Air India, Titan, Tanishq, Tata Motors, and many more.
Feedback:
There are still some technical glitches on the app. One of the sources of Economic Times has said that, if it takes three to four to complete a transaction then the consumers will drop off. The Tata Pay UPI has emerged as a problem that needs to be fixed. The main focus lies in stabilization with the resources in hand and not expansion with glitches everywhere. The services of Big Basket and 1 Mg are faster than the others. This should be equalized.
Road ahead:
With only one office space in the Hosur-Sarjapur Road Layout (HSR), Bengaluru, the group plans to open a similar one in Gurugram. Gurugram coming into the picture, Bengaluru is to play a crucial role in the technological and operational department of the new Tata Digital venture. More engineers are also to be appointed to look after the maintenance of the application and its service offering.
The application also provides a premium membership to its users. It is named ‘Neu App’. It allows the users to earn 5% Neu coins for every time they use the app. Users now can avail services like free home delivery, exclusive offers, a built-in-credit line, early access to products that are yet to launch, and other brand-related privileges.
Benefits to small sellers:
The new era for Tata with the introduction of digital applications benefits small sellers. They are the suppliers to several brands housed inside the app. The super app will result in a combination of product commerce, service commerce, and financial services to help the consumers have an integrated experience.
One of the major uses of these apps are that they increase revenue realization due to the grouping of two or many services in one single application. Apart from that, the companies could use the consumer data that can be harnessed to study consumer behavior.
With still a few works in progress, the Tata as usual has kept consumer priorities first and has acted accordingly.
