A video that went viral on social media, Ex-BJP MLA Gyandev Ahuja from Rajasthan can be seen claiming to have killed five men over cow smuggling.
Former BJP MLA Gyandev Ahuja from Rajasthan was caught on video claiming to have killed five men over cow smuggling. He made this remark in a meeting in Govindgarh while visiting the victim of a communal crime on Friday.
In the video, Ahuja can be heard telling the person sitting next to him “Panditji, ab tak toh paanch humne maare hain, Lalwandi mein maara, chahe Behror mein maara, chahe (unclear) mein maara, ab tak toh paanch hum ne maare hain. Is area mein pehli baar hua hai ke unhone maara hai..”
While the Behror and Lalwandi references were to the lynchings of Pehlu Khan in 2017 and Rakbar in 2018. “Is baar pehli baar hua hai ke unhone maara hai ” was a reference to the killing of Chiranji Lal by Vikram Khan and others, in what police claim was a case of mistaken identity following the theft of a tractor.
In the video, Ahuja further says: “Maine khullam khulla chhoot de rakhi hai karyakartaon ko, maaron sa**** ko jo gokashi [unclear]… Bari bhi karwayenge, zamaanat bhi karwa denge..” (I have given full freedom to my workers, kill those *****, those involved in cow slaughtering, we will get them free and we will get them bail.)
Ahuja’s remarks went viral on social media and sparked a controversy. Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra first shared the video of him on twitter and wrote “What more proof is needed of BJP’s religious terror and bigotry? The real face of BJP has come before the entire country.”
The police later filed a FIR on the basis of a complaint filed by a beat constable who was present there, Alwar SP Tejaswini Gautam informed.
According to reports, FIR has been filed under Section 153A and additional sections may be added as the investigation progresses.
Ahuja has been MLA thrice, in 1998, 2008 and 2013 on BJP ticket. However, in 2018, he was denied a ticket by the BJP.
