The next Le Mans Hypercar, will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship 2024, has been teased by Ferrari.
After 49 years of participating in 24 Hours of Le Mans, The world’s Famous Car Brand, Ferrari, is back. This time the company has teased its latest challenger before testing starts for the 2024 edition of the French endurance race. New Le Mans Challenger shows strong design references to the stylistic features that distinguish the models in the Prancing Horse range.
The design and parts used for the Ferrari Le Mans challenger in 2024 will also be utilized in the company’s road car range.
The public announcement for the same was made back in 2021 where the president of Ferrari added, “In over 70 years of racing, on tracks all over the world, we led our closed-wheel cars to victory by exploring cutting-edge technological solutions: innovations that arise from the track and make every road car produced in Maranello extraordinary”.
“With the new Le Mans Hypercar programme, Ferrari once again asserts its sporting commitment and determination to be a protagonist in the major global motorsport events,” he added.
Last time a Maranello team competed in the Le Mans was in 1973, and the last victory was in 1965. Before the Ford GT40 broke a run of six consecutive victories in 1966.
While the hypercar is only teased through the image, everyone is waiting for the name. But it is confirmed that the new prancing horse would join the Hypercar class of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
The Scuderia’s motorsport interests are centred on F1 but it hasn’t won a driver’s world championship in the last 13 years.
The teaser image for the next Ferrari Le Mans hypercar reveals blade-thin DRLs attached to a deep lip spoiler bent down at the edges by an illuminated red accent. The new car is expected to be a
mid-engine driven, a new chassis, hybrid system, and new parts that will be incorporated into the company road car range.
“The car, which will begin its first development tests in the coming weeks, shows strong design references to the stylistic features that distinguish the models in the Prancing Horse range,” read a Ferrari statement, in part.
The hypercar is still in the prototype stage and the official drivers and crew will be announced later. The list includes Callum Ilott, Alfa Romeo, Antonia Giovinazzi and even former F1 champion Kimi Raikkonen can be the future drivers.
But the company’s list can also include Pier Guidi, Calado, Serra and Davide Rigon, Miguel Molina, and Sam Bird.
In 2024, the same year Ferrari celebrates 50 years away from challenging the overall, Le Mans celebrates its 100th edition.
