The price of petrol and diesel was hiked up in the month of September because the festive season is knocking at the doors.
According to the data shown by the preliminary industry, the rise in the sales of petrol and diesel in the month of September is because of the demand for it as the economic activities happening as the festival season is arriving.
In September this year, the sales of petrol rose to 13.2 percent to 2.65 million tonnes whereas last year the same month it was 2.34 million tonnes of consumption. The sales this year were 20.7 percent higher than the 2021 covid period of September and the pandemic period of September 2019.
But still, the demand for petrol and diesel is 1.9 percent lower than in August 2022.
As diesel is the most used fuel in India the rise in sales in September was 22.6 percent compared to 5.99 million tonnes last year in the same month. This year’s consumption is 23.7 percent more than in 2020 and 15 percent higher than what was in 2019.
In August the fuel was seen dropping 5 percent drop in sales compared to the sales in the month of July but the demand for it rose month to month by 1.3 percent.
From the sources through industries, they claim that the rise in demand for diesel happens because the agricultural industry needs it when the monsoon ends which is the perfect time for any agricultural activities. Alongside, the festive season activities also give rise to fuel demand.
During the months of July and August, there was a decrease seen in the sales of auto fuel which also affected the demand. The reason behind its difference was seen as the surge in June which was supported by the rise of the public’s shift from a hot place to cold places during the summer season to avoid the heat.
There are also some factors like the ATF (jet fuel) demand after the Covid-19 pandemic which was also raised from 41.7 percent to 5,44,700 tonnes compared to last year the same month of September and also sales of LPG was higher which was 5.4 percent every year and 2.48 million tonnes in September.
