The film revolves around the geopolitical issues surrounding the northeastern region of several countries. The film received mixed to negative responses from the audience and critics alike.
Critics said that the film was not able to fully delve into the political context and removed the surface of the real issues.
The actor said
When asked if Anek shelters a saviour complex, the actor said, “I don’t think we have turned ourselves into the saviour complex that people are criticized for. It is a story of the Northeast.
The film is there, and the hero’s actors are from the Northeast. Yet, we have only seen character actors from the Northeast, but Andrea (Kevichussa) is the lead actor, and he probably has as much screen time as me.
70 percent of the film’s cast is from this region. This is his story, which he narrated.”
More about film
The film Anek, directed by Anubhav Sinha, failed to perform at the box office and was bulldozed by Kartik Aaryan’s horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
Many also star Deeplina Deka, JD Chakraborty, Manoj Pahwa, Andrea Kevichussa, and Kumud Mishra.
It had one of the lowest openings in 2022, earning only Rs 1.75 crore on the first day, and continued to struggle as long as it was in theatres.
Many were Ayushmann Khurrana’s lowest-performing films in recent years as the actor has previously seen several hits like Andhadhun, Dream Girl, and Badhaai Ho.
