FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong may be on his way to the North London club.
Reportedly there’s an agreement between FC Barcelona and Manchester United for the transfer of the star Dutch midfielder. But the transfer of Frenkie De Jong seems to be tricky as FC Barcelona are yet to pay him his remaining salary of more than 20 million euros. Even Frenkie De Jong prefers to stay at Barca.
Even if the transfer is the only option left for the Dutchman, he wants to join a club that participates regularly in the UEFA Champions League. So Frenkie De Jong’s representative has been pushing Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain to submit a bid for the Dutch star.
But there is an agreement between FC Barcelona and Manchester United to sign the former Ajax player for 85 million pounds. Reports state that De Jong is not happy with the move to Old Trafford.
In Contrast, while unveiling Raphinha as their new signing Laporta said that as of now there are no intentions of selling Frenkie De Jong. He further stated that De Jong is part of Xavi’s plans. In the recently announced squad of FC Barcelona’s USA tour surprisingly Frenkie De Jong has been included.
Meanwhile, FC Barcelona director of football Mateu Alemany said that sometimes players are forced to leave the club owing to fair play issues. Although the Catalonian club had a meeting with Manchester United’s board, the Dutchman won’t be sold. According to the director of football, players who are more frivolous than Dutch stars will be sold. But the Spanish giants have to off-load some players from the squad.
FC Barcelona already has many players such as Raphinha, Dembele, Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati, and Aubameyang, and their midfield is also filled with a lot of players such as Gavi, Nico, Pedri, Busquets, and many more players. On top of that, they have completed the expensive signing of Robert Lewandowski.
So, to follow the fair play rules of La Liga they have to sell some players from their squad. Many clubs are interested in signing the midfield general of Barcelona and are ready to pay the heavy amount as well.
The fate of Frenkie De Jong will be decided in a few days.
