Italy is one such country that got its first female Prime Minister. Giorgia Meloni officially took over the post of the first female prime minister of Italy.
How was Giorgia Meloni chosen as the first female prime minister of Italy?
According to sources, there were 90 minutes (1.5 hours) of a brief discussion on who should be the next prime minister of Italy. It was a private discussion between the former European Central Bank chiefs. After a brief discussion, the Europen Central Bank officially handed over the big position to Giorgia Meloni. As this decision was taken, there was a small debate in the cabinet.
After the meeting, the prime minister will be meeting all the cabinet ministers of her party along with the allies of the party. She (Giorgia Meloni) will also be meeting the former premier Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italian party and also Mattero Salvina’s far-fight league.
As per the reports, the Eurosceptic is an anti-immigration coalition that takes over the 3rd largest economy amidst inflation issues in Ukraine. Adding to this, the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen said, “this is a first good call with Aloni”, and “I count and look forward to constructive cooperation. Ursula also expects that he and the newly elected prime minister will face the challenges together”.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany said that he is looking forward to working closely with the newly elected prime minister of Italy in matters of EU, NATO, and G7. Meloni reflected on the sentiments she received after being officially elected as the prime minister (a post in which she receives many congratulatory messages on Twitter).
