On Saturday, Chief Minister ( CM ) Pramod Sawant said that the state administration is working with the Indian embassy in Ukraine to ensure that trapped Goans are safely evacuated.Â
“Dear Goan students in Ukraine/parents of Goan students in Ukraine,” Chief Minister Pramod Sawant wrote on social media on Saturday. “The government of Goa is in touch with the Embassy of India in Ukraine and understands the terrible situation which our Goans in Ukraine are currently suffering.”Â
“All Goans in Ukraine are advised to contact our embassy 24 hours a day, seven days a week at +380997300483, +380997300428, +380933980327, +380635917881, +380935046170.” In the message, Sawant stated, “Please heed the advise issued by our embassy from time to time.”Â
He also stated that The Indian embassy had urged Indian people travelling independently to proceed to border points near Chernivtsi border checkpoints and stay in touch with the helpline numbers set up at the relevant checkpoints for border facilitation.
The established evacuation routes are currently Romanian and Hungarian. Now, embassy staff is preparing to deploy at the Chop-Zahony Hungarian border near Uzhorod and the Porubne-Siret Romanian border near Chernivtsi, according to Sawant.Â
