Jon Batiste won Album of the year and Olivia Rodrigo won Best New Artist at the 64th Grammy Awards
The 64th Grammy Awards were given out in Las Vegas with some incredible performances, well- deserved winners, and unexpected appearances. The highlights of the ceremony were the power-packed performance by BTS on the song “Butter”.
Jon Batiste won many awards, including Album of the Year for “We Are” while Silk Sonic won record and song of the year for “Leave the Door Open.” The night which celebrates music stopped for some time when Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, made a mid-show appearance.
The focus of the night turned to the ongoing invasion and the humanitarian crisis. “The war — what’s more opposite than music?” Zelensky said. “We defend our freedom. To live. To love. To sound. In our land, we are fighting Russia which brings horrible silence with their bombs. The dead silence. Fill the silence with your music! Fill it today. To tell our story. Tell the truth about war.”
Check out the list of winners from the night.
