After months of rumours, Gucci has finally confirmed that it’s partnering with Adidas to release the brand’s fall 2022 collection. It is during the Milan Fashion Week. Â
The creative director Alessandro Michele unveiled “Exquisite Gucci,” a lineup. The collection featured pieces from the upcoming collaboration of the Italian house with the sportswear giant, including cross-branded monograms and Adidas’ iconic three-stripe logo. It included a mix of the brand’s signature two-piece suits with corsets and puff-sleeve dresses. Â
Clothes reflect our image in an expanded and transfigured dimension. Alessandro Michele said, “Wearing clothes means to cross a transformative threshold where we become something else”. He said this in his show notes. His show notes tell about the contrasting nature of the collection, which meshed athleisure-leaning wares with the brand’s razor-sharp tailoring. Â
It is a fascinating partnership for the two houses that could not be more different. Gucci’s red carpet-worthy gowns and quirky accessories are very different from Adidas’ activewear, driven by performance. But, as past brand collaboration, Gucci, The North Face and Adidas, Ivy Park has shown a way of merging the two.Â
For Michele, that came in tailored suits forms bearing the logo of the Adidas x Gucci, and ties, scarfs, berets, dresses, and corsets that wouldn’t be spotted in a gym. The collaboration includes accessories like:Â
- monogrammed fabrics andÂ
-  the Adidas Gazelle sneaker decorated and reworked with velvet and  Â
- Gucci’s signature bamboo tote is decorated with the Adidas logo. Â
Â
Gucci has done several collaborations previously. Last year, it partnered with Balenciaga on a “hacking” project and a full-fledged alliance with The North Face that included monogram-heavy jackets and fashion-forward activewear. Â
There is no specific detail about the collaboration’s launch. It’s already promising to be one of the most significant collabs of the year, alongside Balenciaga’s Yeezy Gap. Until then, many trefoil-clad outfits are yet to be planned.
Gucci Styles The Adidas Gazelle Six Ways For Upcoming Collaborative CollectionÂ
Last week, alongside the announcement of their partnership, Gucci and Adidas walked down the runway together at Milan Fashion Week. And underfoot their Trefoil-branded tailoring, the two’s collaborative take on the Gazelle glided by in six different colourways. Rather than integrate elements from existing Gucci footwear, the capsule opts to pay respect to one of Adidas’s most time-honoured silhouettes.
Branding is surprisingly light, with the fashion house’s name appearing just along with the heel tab and the side of the gum sole. And in both palette and materials, offering a premium assortment of suede, velvet, leather, and even snakeskin. While most colourways are subtle in their nod to the Gucci aesthetic, a few are pretty overt. One pair in particular even features the beloved Gucci monogram, while another incorporates the red, green, and white combination that has become signature to the luxury label. Â
