Heavy rainfall is predicted in the southern region of India on 21 and 22 November, there was moderate rain on 18 and 19 November but from today, heavy rain is expected.
- Yesterday, on 19 November a low-pressure area was observed in the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman sea during the next 24 hours. According to IMD, the depression is expected to move towards north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh.
Heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu
The agency issued an orange alert for Kancheepuram, Changalpattu, and Villupuram on November 21.
The state revenue and disaster management departments have organized 169 relief centers in Chennai, and 879 motor pumps are fortified to drain stagnant water in low-lying areas. The state has also set up 5093 relief camps and 1149 national disaster response force personnel.
A flood alert has been issued in places like Theni, Madurai, Sivaganga, Dindigul, and Ramanathapuram districts in Tamil Nadu.
Over the upcoming two days, isolated heavy rainfall is possible over the north and south coastlines of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh. In southern Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema, light to moderate rainfall is expected to begin Sunday, evening.
Wind speeds reaching 45–55 kmph with gusts up to 65 mph are likely to prevail over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, as well as along the Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Sri Lanka coasts between November 20 and 22.

- The IMD predicts rough seas over the Gulf of Mannar on Monday and Tuesday, along and off the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and North Tamil Nadu on November 23, as well as over the southwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal.
There is a warning for fishermen to stay away from the southwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal, as well as the coasts of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Sri Lanka, from November 20 to 22.
4200 cubic feet of water had been discharged from the Vaigai Dam in Theni amid heavy rains. Sea conditions will be rough to very rough, and fishermen in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry are advised not to venture into the sea.
