On Tuesday, Heinous Crime took place in Kerala, when 2 women were allegedly abducted and beheaded for part of a witchcraft ritual.
Mumbai: On Tuesday, two women in Kerala were abducted and beheaded as a part of a Witchcraft ritual, and later were buried by Bhagaval Singh and his wife Laila with Mohammad Shafi. Mohammad Shafi as being the prime suspect also suspected of brainwashing Bhagaval Singh and his wife by promising prosperity to them and settling their financial issues.
Brainwashed Couple Haiku on social media and Mastermind Lures women
Mohammad Shafi (52), The mastermind, Bhagaval Singh (68), and his wife Laila Singh (59) were arrested-on October 11 in connection with the heinous murder of two women Padma (52) and Rosalin Verghese.
According to the reports, Bhagaval Singh, a massage therapist, had a hobby of writing Haiku (a type of Japanese poem has 17 syllables) which he posted on Facebook where he met Mohammad Shafi who had a fake id in the name of “Sreedevi” lured Bhagaval and his wife Laila and had them take part in torture and killing as the ritual of witchcraft.
Bhagaval Singh also posted Haiku that said, “Curled up figure (person) In the verandha of a small shop
Dull (or ragged) cover( sheet)”
And in the recent post he mentions that, “Wobbling Work has been added Tanu Who bent down(Haiku).”
Bhagaval Singh also added that he is a supporter of the Communist Party of India (CPI), though the political party has denied any connections to them and distanced itself from the heinous incident.
Both were brainwashed as Shafi promised them Prosperity and a solution to their financial problems and use this excuse to Sacrifice two women.
Police investigation And Reports on Heinous Crime
The Police started an investigation when Padma’s son filed an FIR when she did not come home after several days in September. Police Commissioner C Nagaraju said, “The last location of her phone was found near Pathanamthitta, and on analyzing it was found that there were various calls on her mobile by Shafi.”
He also later added, “After analyzing the mobile and tracking Shafi’s mobile police team led to Singh and their heinous crimes came to light.”
The reports also said Mohammad Shafi who is the prime accused in the case used to lure women under the fake pretext of sex and offered them money.
The heinous crime had a time difference of 3 months as Rosalin was abducted In June and Padma in September, but the pattern was similar as their private parts were stabbed and throats were slit. Both women met Shafi while selling lottery tickets on the streets and He lured them with the pretext of sex, where the Padma was offered ₹15000, and Rosaline was offered ₹100000 for performing in porn movies.
Police Reports later Added, “He had a physical relationship with Bhagaval Singh’s Wife, Laila, as it was passed as a ritual practice. he Heinous murders victims had their throats slit private parts stabbed, and the bodies, chopped into 56 pieces before they were buried.”
Sources revealed that “Through post-mortem and interrogation, it became known that, For Rosalin, the offender was Laila as she stabbed her private parts multiple times and her husband Chopped off one of Rosalin’s breasts. On the other hand, Shafi had tortured and killed the Padma.”
The Mastermind Shafi also, self-claimed that he cannibalized the bodies. Police are investigating the claim, and reports are yet to come.
Police also said, “The bodies found on October 11 were bought to Kottayam Medical college the same night. The DNA test will be conducted through many parts already started to decompose which made it harder to conduct. After the tests, the bodies not only will be found but the injuries sustained by them will also be known.”
State Minister for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said in his tweet, “A heinous crime in the name of black magic. Is this the Kerela Boasting? Shame!”
State Laws on Witchcraft and Cannibalism
In 2016, The Prevention of Witch Hunting Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha by MP Raghav Lakhanpal. It had a wide range of issues covered by various sections, but the bill did not pass or even go into consideration in Parliament.
The Bill covered many issues such as reasons for a woman being considered a witch and educating, rehabilitating, and spreading awareness among people on the subject.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau report three major states- Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana have the most reports as 49 out of 68 cases of witchcraft practice are reported in these states only.
In India, there is no common central law for witchcraft and crimes done under its practice. But several States such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, Jharkhand (Bihar), Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Assam do have several laws against it.
