Human security means protecting the fundamental freedoms of people. It integrates three freedoms that are- freedom from fear, freedom from want and freedom from indignity. Human security can be considered as a integration of security and development. As Amartya Sen argues ‘development can be seen as a process of expanding the real freedoms that people enjoy’. Thus, the concept of human security provided a new direction to the thinking of development.
In today’s time where there is a mass violation of human rights, millions of people across the globe are under poverty etc, Human Security plays a very important role. It emphasises on the root causes of vulnerabilities, focuses on emerging risks and prompts early action. It provides an impetus to all the countries to review their current security, economic, social and development policies in order to ensure people’s safety and livelihood.
The three-day International Conference on Human Security & Governance will try to analyse the role and functioning of nation-states as well as different External actors [like international organisations, multinational organisations, lobbies, think tanks, political parties, non-government organisations, community, media] in securing human security goals [viz. health, education & income].
Furthermore, this conference aims to create a network and support the international community of academicians, researchers, scholars, and students, to know and discuss about latest trends, developments, and challenges in the field through panels, presentations and publications of the latest research from around the world.
