On this Saturday, India created history by qualifying for the very first time in the FIFAe nations cup of 2022. The esports showpiece is all set to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark this year from July 27th to 30th. India defeated the Korean Republic and Malaysia in the FIFAe nation series to qualify for the showpiece event.
The journey of India to qualify for the finals of FIFAe nations
The journey of the Indian football team started in January 2021 when the All India Football Federation decided to sign the agreement with FIFA for the FIFAe nations series.
Our country was among the sixty countries to participate and was placed in the Middle East and Africa zone. In the year of 2021, India just lost its place by being third in the zone and narrowly missing the position.
For the year of 2022
India ended this season with a global rank of 22. For the season of 2022, India was moved to the Asia/ Oceania region and was awarded a spot in the play-Ins which would offer a direct position in the playoffs. India played 32 games across four weeks with 12 wins, 11 losses and nine draws.
With this record, India successfully qualified to the Playoffs by finishing as second in the chart for consistency points. Charanjot Singh, Siddh Chandarana and Saransh Jain came as the rescue goods for India during the playoffs with Malaysia and Korean Republic.
It is indeed a history created for India in the area of Football. India had never seen such a great victory in football at an international level. Now India will be moving for the Finals in Denmark during the end of July.
