Falguni Shah aka Falu bags a Grammy for ‘A Colorful World’ album on Sunday writes, “I have no words to describe today’s magic”.
Falguni Shah, aka Falu is an Indian-American singer, won the Best Children’s Music album Grammy for ‘A Colourful World’ made India proud on the stage. She was the second Indian to be nominated and won a Grammy this year.
She was competing against Lucy Diaz and the Family Jam band (Crayon Kids), Pierce Freelon (Black to the Future), 1 Tribe Collective (All One Tribe) and 123 Andres (Activate).
Another Indian music composer Ricky Kej–Grammy 2015 winner, wins second Grammy under the Best New Age Album award for ‘Devine Tides’.
About the song ‘A Colourful World’
Falu’s creation of this song was unique in its presence as her nine-year-old son Nishaad studies in New York City school where people from different ethnicities and race come and identify people differently.
The song tells us how different colors can live peacefully with each other (like different crayons in a box). This issue was chosen by her as she felt the dire to present the colors differently to the world.

Falguni hails from a musical Gujarati family and undertook the training in Gujarati folk music, ghazal and other genres. She is also trained in Hindustani classical music under Sultan Khan and Kishore Amonkar.
She has also worked with singer-composer AR Rahman, composer Philip Glass and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Falu is the only Indian-origin American woman to be nominated in the same category twice – one in 2019 for ‘Falu’s Bazaar’ and another in 2022 for ‘A Colorful World’.
