The quadrilateral followed the bilateral meeting between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Yair Lapid, Israel’s Alternate Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.
India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr S. Jaishankar, who is on a five-day visit to Isreal, took part in a new quadrilateral meeting on Monday, including Foreign Ministers of Israel, the United States of America, and the United Arab Emirates.
In a tweet, S. Jaishankar said that the meeting with Mr Lapid, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed, and the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, was ‘fruitful.’
“Discussed working together more closely on economic growth and global issues. Agreed on expeditious follow-up.”.
The Israeli counterpart, Yair Lapid, also took to Twitter, saying ‘the virtual meeting decided to establish an international forum for economic cooperation and possibilities for joint infrastructure projects in a wide range of fields.
“The Secretary and the Foreign Ministers discussed expanding economic and political cooperation in the Middle East and Asia, including through trade, combating climate change, energy cooperation, and increasing maritime security.
Secretary Blinken and the Ministers also discussed people-to-people ties in technology and science, and how to support global public health in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Ned Price, U.S. State Department spokesperson after the meeting.
The quadrilateral meeting followed the bilateral talks between S. Jaishankar and Yair Lapid, Alternate Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Israel.
According to a tweet by S. Jaishankar, both foreign ministers ‘discussed a wide range of regional and global issues. Agreed to resume FTA negotiations next month.’ Both ministers also ‘agreed in mutual recognition of Covid vaccination certifications.’
